The evening of August 18th, we were putting the boys to bed. We always pray before bedtime. This particular evening, Caleb asked me to lay with him in his bed, and Micah asked John to lay with him in his.
We were talking and Micah said what I THOUGHT was, “I want Jesus to be my favorite.” (He can’t say his “S” sound. It comes out sounding like an “F.”) John says, “Did you hear that?” I said, “Sure, he said he wants Jesus to be his favorite.” John said, “No, he said he wants Jesus to be his Savior.” Wow! How exciting!
John asked him some questions about salvation and Micah knew all the correct answers. John told him he would have to pray to ask Jesus to forgive his sins, and to ask him to come live in his heart. Micah asked John to help. So John started out the prayer, with Micah repeating. It was so sweet and special to see my husband help lead my son to Christ!
Of course, that evening we called the family to tell them the good news, and it of course went on Facebook! Sunday morning, we went to all of Micah’s teachers at church (Miss Vickie, Miss Amy, Miss Angie, Mr. Randy, Miss Sandra, and Miss Susan) to thank them for all that they had done to help Micah on his road to salvation. While we teach Micah and Caleb at home, the teaching they get while at church also makes a huge impact, and we wanted them to know what a vital part they played in this wonderful event!
It does a mama’s heart good to know that we are doing some things right with God’s help!
