Fun Christmas goodies

We decided that we would make some goodies for our friends and family over the weekend. It was fun knowing that we would eventually be giving our friends' kids sugar rushes. We made Rice Krispie treats, walnut bark, peppermint bark, chocolate dipped pretzels, and chocolate dipped marshmallows. Micah really enjoyed getting to help make the Rice Krispie treats. He felt like such big stuff getting to add ingredients.
I had been melting the chocolate on the stove and left the wood spoon. I had forgotten it but apparently Micah hadn't. He grabbed the spoon and the rest is history. I have discovered that it is no fun licking chocolate off a spoon unless you get it all over your face. At least, that's how Micah likes to do it.
Here's wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas from the Stults family to yours.

He said AMEN!

I'm not sure if everyone knows, but Micah's speech is a little delayed. He doesn't speak as many words as a normal 2 1/2 year old would because he had so many ear infections his first year. That is such a big time in the speech development of kids and the ear infections make it sound like people are speaking at you underwater. But, little by little, he seems to be learning new words.
Last night, we were putting Micah to bed. We always pray together with him before he goes to bed. So we prayed for all of our family and friends and said Amen. We asked Micah if he would say Amen, and sure enough, he said Amen! I was so excited! We kept asking him to say it again. What a great birthday present (it was my birthday yesterday)!
I have a tendency to worry, and John keeps reminding me that Micah will learn in his own time. And he was right. It sure makes a Mama proud! Just wanted to share.

The funny things kids do

So we put Micah to bed about 8:00 last night. About 9:30 I went to go check on him and make sure he had his blanket on. So I opened the door and he wasn't in his bed. Lately he has felt like he should sleep on the floor, so sometimes we find him on the floor all covered up. So last night I looked on the floor and he wasn't there. So I looked under the crib (Caleb is still sleeping in the bassinet in our room so his big brother doesn't bug him. But we still have the crib all set up in the boys' room.). He wasn't under the crib. So I started looking all around. I happened to look up at the crib, and Micah was laying in the crib and he was still awake. I had left the rail down, and he had moved his pillow and his blankets all into the crib. He had climbed in and was ready to sleep there all night. I told John he had to come take a look at his big son. I told him it would take him a minute to find Micah. He just started laughing. Who knows what was going through Micah's mind at the time. I just wish I had taken a picture because it was so cute!

Happy Birthday Jesus

We went to a Happy Birthday Jesus party at church a few nights ago. We had a good time, and I must say that all 3 of my boys looked pretty handsome.

Micah had a great time at the party. A couple from our church showed all the kids some hand motions, and then told the kids the Christmas story using those hand motions. I was pretty proud of Micah because he was able to do the hand motions...at least until he decided it was more fun to jump off the stage and run over to me. Kids will be kids, I guess.

Still learning this blog thing

So, I have decided that I really need to get the hang of this blogging thing. I have friends and family that have a blog, so I want to be able to keep in touch with them. And this seems to be a prety neat way of doing it. Any hints or help would be appreciated.
